Not feeling it today. For one, I woke up with really bad leg cramps, I screamed for help! Good thing, HubZilla is home so he massaged my left leg until I was able to move it; our poor lil doggy freaked out.

Add the totally uncooperative long hair. I tried a different style bun but I looked more haggard. Makeup-wise, I just wanted it simple. Result: too bland for Friday!

Quick solution? Big arse earrings. So bold let them do the talking gurl
Not bad for $2!

What about you? how do you handle crappy mornings?

Kathryne

* yeah, only $2 at Icing's!*

Try and try, that's what I have been doing to keep my flat and lifeless lashes curled all day. After several attempts, I believe I got the formula right based on real-time results. So if you are facing the same dilemma, try this method and let me know if it helped you at all.

Okay heres' my naked eye. Boring at its finest *yawns*

It's all in the technique, I tell 'ya.

Things you'll need: Blackest black waterproof mascara, eyelash curler, swivel mirror, tissue.

(1) Imagine your lash to have 3 parts. From the root, middle, tip. Now instead of curling your lashes one time (which we are all accustomed to), curl them in section at 10 seconds each. Yes, literally count 1 to 10 starting from the root, then mid, finally tip.

(2) Now instead of facing your mirror straight (as you normally would), swing the mirror half way so you are looking down.

(3) Take your blackest black mascara and wipe the excess product with a piece of tissue. We don't need that much to achieve natural looking lashes.

(4) Looking down at the mirror, coat lashes from root to tip. I won't do more than 2 coats unless you're going for clumpy lashes.

Let's study the difference. New method was used for my right eye; traditional method (curl one time; from the tube; looking straight at the mirror) for left.

taken in the morning (natural light)

Traditional method (left side) has obvious clumps; they're up but not that curled.
New method (right side): hardly any clumps; more curled and more natural-looking

Several hours and a dinner after....

after 8 hours (flash)

Traditional method (left) looked weird and funny
New method (right): stayed curled and up!

Problem solve for moi.

'til next experiment,

Kathryne

I call this the art of giving. While I like the ease of holiday sets, nothing is more special than customizing your gifts. It's like opening a box full of chocolates- sweet, nutty, moist. Everything is an eye candy!

It all starts with a cute makeup bag. You can find inexpensive yet chic styles at Ross or Target, like this $6.99 bag from Sonia Kashuk

It's cold and dry skin is a common dilemma. I see you hoarded limited edition lotions and creams from Bath and Body Works. Throw in a hand cream por favor!

She's a makeup noob? Wet n Wild eyeshadow palette won't disappoint. Good thing, it won't break your pocket!

'Tis the season to shine. Highlight those luscious lips with a gloss. Nyx mega shine lip gloss is affordable with undeniable superb quality.

Spruce up the style babe. Give your bestie a pair of fabulous earrings. This dainty dangles from Forever 21 is only $7!

Mascaras have shorter shelf-life so probably it's about time to toss hers. Milani runway lashes is a good addition to her stash.

Party with sparkles! A new glitter nail polish is a no-brainer. Wet n Wild Fergie is worth a try!

Ready to wrap?

Kathryne

Purple glitter nails, of course! Purple glitter lips, why not? I'm all for fun for the holidays! So among the six shades from butter LONDON's holiday lips and tips combo ($25, Nordstrom), Shambolic was the obvious choice for this woman!

Oh la- love at two coats! Ignore the fugly nails and admire the beautiful fusion of purple microglitters, silver and pink hexagonal discs. I love me some night life, I lurve me some boogie!

The lip gloss isn't all that glittery as I initially thought. A blessing in disguise- meaning, I can wear it anytime! Unless someone is fetish about shiny lips, these purple microglitters in sheer eggplant finish are hardly visible from a distance. Like who else will walk up to you and study those lips. Ooops, I forgot the nosy friends *evil laugh*

So yes, this makes a lovely present for Christmas. That's one girl off the shopping list!

Do you own this or anything from butter LONDON's holiday collection?

After retracting its decision to sell to China few months back, Urban Decay's marketing saga ain't over. According to news, cosmetics giant L'Oreal bought Urban Decay for $250-300 million.

L'Oreal owns some of the biggest makeup and skincare brands i.e Garnier, Maybelline, Essie, Lancome, Kiehl's, Shu Uemura, Ralph Lauren, La Roche Posay, The Body Shop, and many more.

The biggest question is, now that Urban Decay will be in the hands of a huge global marketer, will they finally give up their long debated cruelty-free stance? They've been itching to penetrate China remember?

Is this news a shocker to you? Not to moi. I mean, companies bite the bullet to survive competition. And while I like Urban Decay, there are other indie brands that remain true to their 'against animal testing' policy. That's somehow decaying in UD's vocabulary. Oh well money makes the world go round. And flat. *smh*

Back to 'biz.

How was your Black Friday experience? Believe it or not, mine wasn't that crazy at all! I prepped for the worse you know, like I'm ready to kick some ass if you dare push me. But thank heavens, there was no traffic (a rarity in downtown Honolulu) and finding a parking space was a breeze. Or maybe fate intervened.

So in my usual laid-back glam style *ahem*, I opted to wear this off- shoulder LBD paired with my comfy black slippahs \m/

wearing black for black friday. how predictable, lol
owl necklace was part of my winnings from phyrra

FOTD is rather neutral, I went for subtle smokey eyes and nude lips. Accessories were minimal, my style these days.

Timing couldn't be more perfect. We arrived at Ala Moana few minutes before 10 am. While there was an unusually large crowd, it's not something that sent me to nausea department #claustrophobic

If you don't have time to use hair styling tools, then a statement headband is your next best option to look fantabulous this holiday season. Choose one that best suits your personality and keep your accessories to a minimum. Here's a a quick updo for the hostess with the mostest!

    1. Use dry shampoo to volumize second day hair (optional)
    2. Tease bangs, the higher the better
    3. Decide on the height of your poof
    4. Use hairspray to hold your beehive
    5. Do a high ponytail; use bobby pins to secure poof
    6. Load up on hair spray to withstand a night of partying
    7. Hmmm, hair's boring
    8. Now we're talking!

    Intrigued by this headpiece?

It's from the Scala Collezione Collection by Dorfman Pacific, one of the largest headwear companies in the world. Depending on the intricacy and materials used, this statement headband retails anywhere from $30- $150. The style I own features sinamay and feathers, both meticulously secured in lightweight metal band.

Well at least for a day, you and I can strut like Kate Middleton!
