While I absolutely love DIY- accessories, what with my own online store (I accept custom orders, just shoot me an email), sometimes moi can't say no to retail beauties such as these. I mean, at 5 for $10 (originally priced between $10-$15 each), t'was a great deal I must say. Those orange and turquoise earrings are the perfect accessories for summer! 'Luv luv luv how bangles can amp a bleh outfit, don't cha think so?  Like these styles? check out Icing, you might find a fab pair or two.

...I hope you had a wonderful weekend...

Happy Aloha Friday! I'm having fun lately with eyeliners so I thought of doing another Face of the Day featuring my often-neglected purple eyeliner from Sephora (yep, a house brand). By the way, that's Hawaiian orchid, pretty ya?

There is absolutely nothing technical with this look. I just applied purple eyeshadow on my lids and a very pale green on crease, highlighter on brow bone, gray eyeliner on upper lash line, and purple eyeliner on lower lash line, sealed with a purple eyeshadow to prevent smearing. Add the peachy-pink lipgloss and moi is all set for work. Have a fabulous weekend everyone...

Complete makeup:
Face: Laura Geller face primer, Make Up Forever Velvet Mat+, James Dimitri Mineral Powder, Cargo concealer
Eyes: Catrice limited edition Papagena, Estee Lauder gray eyeliner, Sephora purple eyeliner, Cargo mascara
Cheeks: Jane Be Pure Mineral Blush (Mink)
Lips: Wet n Wild lipstick, Stila Lip Glaze (Seashell)

If you have been reading my blog, you know that my daily wardrobe is good 'ol scrubs and sneakers. So to break my mundane world style, I like to give my makeup a 'lil twist without going overboard. Today, I got inspired by my aloha scrubs. Green is soothing, fresh and clean.

For my eye makeup, I applied lime green on my lids and peachy brown on crease. I lined my waterline with green eyeliner, then tight-lined my upper lash line with black eyeshadow, and a little bit of green eyeshadow on top of black for an extra punch. I opted for nude lipstick for this daytime look.

Complete makeup:
Face: Laura Mercier Primer, Revlon Colorstay, Almay concealer, elf HD powder
Eyes: Coastal scents 78 palette, elf eye primer, James Dimitri black mascara
Cheeks: elf blush and bronze duo
Lips: Wet n Wild Megalast

...Yep! I used mostly drugstore products, awesome!

Mean. Moi can be mean, and I mean it. Chill \m/

Okay, I'm not a Dancing With The Stars freako but once in a great while, I do watch it. But you know one thing I noticed? Most of the celebrities who were quite heavy incredibly shed pounds. Gladys Knight, Kelly Osbourne and Kirstie Alley (who lost 100 pounds during her stint) looked radiant and buffed more than ever. So the grillin' hot question is, does dancing really make you lose weight?

To say that I like to dance is an understatement. I uber love it. In fact, it's my best kept secret how I have maintained my weight. I admit that there were times I was too lazy to do it, but like any other form of exercise, it takes a gamut of self-will to drag my as* out of the bed.

Quick trivia! An hour of dancing burn about 300 calories. That's one slice of pizza for you mah zillah! If you're like me who's into high impact hip hop and zumba, we burn around 500 calories an hour. Your body is sculpted depending on the type of dance. For instance, ballroom tones arms and calves. Salsa and hip hop tone waist and legs. One thing I learned from my previous gym memberships~ the faster the music, the more you burn calories.

I dance in the comfort of my living room, at least three times a week for 30 minutes. Maybe one day, I can push it to one hour. But I tell you, I sweat with all might right after 3 songs.

Dance Again.

P.S. Here's what I'm dancing to right now!

Several weeks ago, I randomly tweeted a photo of my weekend mani to Glamour Magazine, just because. Long story short, I won this limited edition Essie Barefoot in Blue (created for TOM's One Day Without Shoes Event). The hue is more like cornflower which was my favorite Crayola moment color back in grade school, hahaha! The consistency is quite creamy and with three coats, I got the opaque finish I wanted. Overall, this is one fabulous Essie creation. Thing is, it's limited edition, geez!

Okay here's my dilemma for the nth time: Adult acne, oily skin and visible open pores. So I need a life skin-saver that is multi-tasking sans the over-drying side effect which is common to benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid-based products. Wonder of wonders! I found that all in Vichy Normaderm (Acne-prone skin) by accident. Yep, I have been using this product for over two months now, in the morning (after toner and before I apply primer for makeup) and evening (after toner). I said by accident because it was a free gift when I purchased another Vichy product (still being reviewed by moi).

Deluxe size

This product is indicated for the treatment of acne, which to my opinion is more of preventive than therapeutic. Now if you have huge zits or bumps with pus, this is not your overnight solution because the salicylic content is only 1% so it will take about 3 or 4 days before that nasty pimple is gone. I suggest use something that has 2% salicylic acid or try benzoyl peroxide 10%, that is if you don't mind the stinging sensation plus the over-drying side effect as I have mentioned many times over.

On the preventive aspect, I like how my face hibernated from the horrific- zits- here- and- there (especially during PMS). I still have some whiteheads though (because I'm still in the process of rejuvenating my skin from bi-monthly glycolic peels which I am also evaluating for the past months before I give my concrete review). But overall, my face is quite clearer now, thanks to this little-less known brand.

Another thing I like about this product is its hydrating property. Needless to say, I don't need to apply a separate moisturizer each time - saves me effort and moolah, 'can't beat that. Yes, even if you have oily skin, your face needs hydration to keep it supple. Hydration is not about oil, they're not related at all. Read my previous post to know more about this topic here.

Oil or shine exaggerates open pores so with this product's mattifying ability, my obnoxious pores are quite reduced, but not to say they're gone forever. Open pores is largely a genetic condition, too bad it runs deep in my blood!

I love this product because it addressed my personal skincare needs, so it's a 5/5 rating for moi and I'm buying the full size as soon as I consume this baby.

As I have previously mentioned, when it comes to skincare it's "different strokes for different folks". What works for you may not for me and vice-versa. If you have found your holy grail, stick to it.

Although I can talk lengthily on skincare (having worked as a Product/Marketing Manager for a dermatology company before), my opinion is based on personal experience. Treat this like an additional resource but never as a replacement from your consultation with a dermatologist or doctor.

It all starts with a vision. Then vision becomes a plan. Then action. Finally a reality.  Mind over matter. If you will it, it will be yours.

I have been meaning to write this post for quite a while to some of my friends who are going thru heartbreaks, separation, divorce, deceit, and other problems that tested one's patience, faith, and confidence. Not that I am a poster child for Ms.Optimism. Let's just say that I've experienced having been deceived too, all in the name of that stupid thing called L-O-V-E. Yep, this FabZilla is a reborn of a once-emotional scorned woman.

How do you forgive? That's the toughest question I always get from close friends who are in the initial stages of grief (there are 5 ~> Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance. I will touch on these in a separate post). Regardless of the cause of your anger or hatred, forgiveness is inevitable. It takes times, some faster, most longer. But trust me, it will happen in its most natural state. With age comes experience. With experience comes wisdom. These are the things I have learned in life about the whole meaning of FORGIVENESS.

Forgive but don't forget. This mentality holds true to all my experiences, friendship included. I have a big heart but my mind is bigger. Fool me once or twice I'd forgive you. Use me thrice I'd understand you. Do it again you won't hear from me ever. Forgive the person but don't forget the lesson and wisdom you have gained from it.

Forgiveness doesn't necessitate communication to the person who wronged or hurt you. Real forgiveness comes from the heart. Move on, close the book and start with a new chapter. Don't wish anything evil or bad to that person and your life will be blessed multi-fold. As the adage goes, vengeance isn't ours. I have always believed in God's might.

Forgiveness means looking past the person's mistakes and starting anew. If you chose to give this person another chance, refrain from scratching that old wound or it will never be healed. Reliving the moment of deceit or constantly nagging your partner is a recipe for disaster. Nobody but you decided to give this relationship another lease in life.

Forgive yourself. In fact the first step towards forgiveness is to accept that you made a mistake, and that you failed. It happened because you are not perfect, who is anyway? You cannot control certain situations but you can manage your reaction.

Remember this ~ you may not always have a happy ending but you can create a happy beginning.....

No drama queen here.
The first "F" you sign, hahaha.
Be strong, girl! The future is bright.

Gold is a pretty shade that compliments any eye color. I like how it instantly brightens my aura despite being sleep-deprived. Trust me, gold ain't just for party or night time look. If you keep the rest of your makeup neutral, such as nude lips or barely-there blush, you can wear this at work just like moi.

For this FOTD (Face of the Day), I challenged myself to use only drugstore products! Here's a snapshot:

L-R, Top: Maybelline Fit Me Blush (Medium Coral), Wet n Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow (The Gilded Age), Wet n Wild Brow Kit, Revlon Colorstay Foundation (Oily/Combination skin), Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Face Primer, Revlon Lip Butter (Creme Brulee)
Bottom: L'Oreal False Lashes Mascara, Maybelline Color Tattoo (Bold Gold), Maybelline Mineral Veil, Nyx eyeshadow base
Not in picture: Physician's Formula concealer, Wet n Wild black eyeshadow

Obviously, the feature makeup here is the eyes. I used Maybelline Color Tattoo (Bold Gold) as base and to help the gold eyeshadow come out a 'lil bit more. Click here for full review. Then I applied gold shade from Wet n Wild's The Gilded Age palette over my lids. For my crease, I used dark brown from the same palette, starting from the outer corner and blended it gently using a fluffy crease brush. Finally I used shimmer flesh as transition color a tad above the crease and just a little under the brow bone, and also in my inner eye corners. To define my eyes more, I used black eyeshadow to tight-line my upper lash line but skipped lining my lower lash line for a more subtle effect. Two coats of mascara, a dab of nude lipstick, a teeny weeny coral-ish cheek color and am 'outta here!

My doggy begged me not to crop her out of the pic this time, hahaha!

Finally, a foundation that seems to have it all! Long-wear. Oil-free. Waterproof. With SPF. Water-based. Cruelty-free. What more can I ask for? FabZilla gotta have Tarte Full Coverage Foundation pronto.

The Buzz. "Like airbrushed foundation without the air." Made with Amazonian clay that adjusts to your complexion concerns. Suits oily, dry, and combination skin. Reduces pores and minimizes discoloration for a flawless complexion. 12 hours of coverage with UVA/UVB SPF 15 formula. With weightless texture that is buildable and blendable for healthy and natural-looking skin.

Like I previously mentioned, I admire people with inherent skills on nail art. I mean, those who can literally create intricate designs from scratch using both hands. Not moi but thanks to nail stamp art, I can be creative albeit in a different level. Level 1 for Beginners, hahaha.

I got my nail stamp art tools from my local drugstore which were on sale for 30% off, serendipity yeah? I couldn't contain my excitement so as soon I got home, I began my experimentation. And just like any first-time encounters, I had multiple errors. Practice makes perfect. Anyways, here is my first ever nail stamp art *drum roll*

'Never thought that nail stamp art can be messy. But it really is addicting!

Butterflies to break the monotony...

Meet the bad boys L-R: Base Coat, Konad Special Nail Poish (black) NYX (Beige on Caffeine), Essie Top Coat, Konad Nail Stamp, Konad Image Plate m78

Here's to more nail art designs \m/

To everyone who celebrates, Happy Easter!
New hope. New beginnings.

I realized I don't own any minty nail polish so in my recent trip to Walmart, I was excited to have found this beauty. I Need a Refresh-Mint, yep that's the name of this nail lacquer from Wet n Wild Megalast Salon Nail Color 2012 Collection. At $1.99, I bought it without batting an eyelash.

The brush is rather big for my teeny- weeny nails, and the flat rod? it dispensed way too much polish in one application. The consistency is creamy and with only two coats, I got a decent opaque finish. Over-all, I'd say it's a nice shade to rock this Spring.

I'm starting a new segment for my blog which summarizes my week's highlights. Not that it matters, what with my self- penned mantra MYOB. Mind Your Own Business. Mind Your Own Bulls*it, hahaha!

Anyways, I can't believe how fast this month went by, don't you think so? Last midnight, I started to spring-clean and prune my makeups and closet. I finished this afternoon with a more streamlined vanity and yeah, I disposed some cosmetics I hardly used. I'm not yet done with my closet though, let's see next weekend.

Hell to the No! Le Hub and I had been fast food drive-thru junkies last week, blame the lazy bug who feasted on my normally active- self. McDonald's, Taco Bell, Burger King, Jack in a box~~> this has to stop STAT. I am serious.

For straight week, I only used theBalm Nute'tude eyeshadow palette. A feat for someone who wants variety ~ if this ain't love then I don't know what it is. If you missed my review, click here

Ha, I attempted to rock Hunger Games's Effie Trinket nails. I am not an expert in nail art so I was happy it came out pretty decent.

A new Walmart opened in our neighborhood. Good news to savvy consumers like moi, sad for K-Mart and small businesses in the area. Of course, the curious cat Kath went to the opening day and checked out the beauty section in a flash. Yep, I bought some makeups.

I received a 15% off promo mail coupon from Sephora, which I thought was perfect timing since I am down on one of my beauty staples, Clinique pore minimizer. So after work yesterday, we drove to Ala Moana (the largest mall in the island). While I was testing out some makeups, a very courteous Sephora staff asked me if I needed basket for my goodies. Lo and behold! I bumped into fellow beauty/youtuber Liz who happens to work there. We were like "hey, I know you!". A chitchat here and photo op there, it was indeed a neat surprise to see each other in flesh (that's us in above photo). Check out Liz's channel, click here.

I wish everyone a meaningful commemoration of Holy Week!
