$30, MAC counters

MAC's been releasing collections madly left and right lately that moi got lost in their whole labyrinth of products. To begin with, MAC Mineralize Foundation/Loose is part of the Mineralize Perfectly Finished Collection which debuted in MAC counters middle of February this year.

So I was cleaning my files today when I saw these pictures snapped in various retail havens in Oahu. Now look closely and guess what the common denominator was... moi with the same black thong wedges! And if I'm not mistaken, these photos were taken between 2009- May 2011, barely a month before these overused wedges succumbed to coma. Wear-and-tear. Sigh.

"It's not a lipstick, nor is it a gloss...It's nothing like you've experienced before...It's a liquid lipstick that goes on with full Xtreme color and intense shine". Ha! the claim that had me clicked Add to Basket button.

$5.99, Ulta

A high bun hairstyle is timeless and elegant, such as Jennifer Lopez's ethereal beauty. I'm a huge fan and she's mainly the reason why I watch the decade-old American Idol. Here's my own interpretation....

Whoa, I thought I was watching a French Awards show last night! The Artist bagged five statuettes (including Best Picture and Best Actor), Hugo (setting in a Paris train station) won five awards, and Midnight in Paris was nominated for Best Picture. Moi's short-term goal: watch all these three movies and relive my Parisian vacay some years back.

Moving on to my personal choice for Best-Dressed....

Emma Stone  in Giambattista Valli.
A similar dress (by Balenciaga) was worn by Nicole Kidman in 2007 Oscar's.

Win These!

Yep! Orange is the color of 2012 according to The Pantone Color Institute; or to be more specific, Pantone 17-1463 a.k.a Tangerine Tango. From fashion to makeup, this hue flatters every skin tone there is. Amber Rose and Kourtney Kardashian are just some of the celebrities who rock orange lippies like a ray of sunshine.

Staring blankly at the computer screen for fifteen minutes and scrambling for words ~ Ahhh! bloggers' block. Inhale, exhale. Okay let's try this one more time, blog!

In my quest to try and switch to natural-based makeups this year, my wandering fingertips led me to Ulta.com and clicked Sula Beauty, a Canadian-based company that manufacture makeups free from paraben/phtalates/petroleum by-products. The surprise element was the price - all under $10!  Boo, 3 out of the 4 lipsticks were sold out so moi settled for the remnant nonetheless.

Quick Escape, $4, ulta.com

Look who's back?! Moi was incognito from blog-o-landia because of a mini-vacay. My SIL flew from San Diego for a week-visit and you know what that meant ~ Tour around Oahu! Sweet Lord, sun-basking on the beach was my chicken soup ( I was nursing a cold days before.  And no, I didn't forget the sunscreen babes!) A couple of trips to the beach, outdoor shopping, sightseeing, ATV- driving, and catamaran- sailing yielded a tan I haven't had in years. Ha! add the extra pounds gained from forced- feeding, I can only describe the feeling in one word ~ bliss.

It's getting hot in here mama!

Moi wore Wet n Wild Megalast Lipcolor (Think Pink) today~ and guess what, it was among the 400 lipsticks found to contain lead, based on US-FDA's recent report. Oh-em-gee!

Although these lipsticks don't pose a threat to public safety (plenty from L'Oreal, MAC, Revlon, Maybelline, NARS, Cover Girl, Dior, Lancome, etc.), the FDA is now considering to recommend the lead level limit in lipsticks in order to protect the consumers.

For a complete list of lipsticks tested positive for lead, click here

In the US, cosmetic products and ingredients (excluding color additives) are not subject to FDA approval prior to market launch. In short, manufacturers (big or small) can use any ingredient and sell without FDA's consent. So that leaves the undiscerning consumer with self-regulation. Boo! #caveat

I refrained from looking at my Facebook and Twitter updates yesterday because Hawaii is hours behind from Grammy's telecast. And by the time it aired at 7pm, my uber fave show The Walking Dead debuted its mid-season premiere episode. Of course, the latter won by miles point.

With Adele's winning streak, my faith in today's genre of music was renewed! Now that's real talent babe.

Anyways, I watch shows like these mainly to see what's hot and not. In the Best Dressed Category, my top choices were:

(1) Armani-clad Rihanna. This is sexiness to the nth power.

This is the last installment of my Skinn Cosmetics haul ~ a natural-based cosmetics created by celebrity makeup artist James Dimitri.

Eye Definition Shea Butter & Peptide Line & Shade Wheel (Warm) is an eyeliner mah zillahs! Frankly, what's up with the long name?

You've probably read or heard this gazillion times ~ you have to deep clean your brushes at least once a month to prevent bacterial contamination. Moi is germophobe so I do it weekly using another DIY recipe (see post here).  And no matter how tired I am, the last chore I do before dozing off is to spot-clean my makeup brushes daily. As in. I used to buy these cleansers before until the frugal bug bit me.

The supplies are nothing carved in stone. The whole point is to sanitize so if you check your store-bought daily cleanser, you will see that the main ingredients are alcohol and aqua a.k.a H20 a.k.a water !

For this DIY, you will need the following:
1 spray bottle : from the photo above {black bottle}, I recycled e.l.f
Distilled water
(Optional) Witch Hazel or Rose Petal (Witch hazel is a good natural astringent; Rose petal is a gentle toner with moisturizing properties).

1. Fill half of the bottle with alcohol. Add a quarter of distilled water. Add a quarter of witch hazel or rose petal. Shake bottle.
2. Spray your brushes with this cleanser and wipe with terry cloth until the stain from the bristles disappear.
3. Lay flat on a clean towel or surface to dry.

That's it. Happy cleaning babes!

I'm a sucker for long-wearing makeups because I hate the idea of carrying too much beauty products in my purse.   In short, anything that has "long" attached to the brand, moi will gladly try. What's there to lose especially if it's priced under $5. No, make it $2.25 to be more precise.

Enter Essence's Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss. Did it really stay? Love or leave?

$2.25, Ulta

I don't know about you but I refrain to utter hopeless romantic for the simple reason that it invites negativity. Hopeful romantic is more like it, don't you think so?
~~> there goes moi in my deep-thinking self <~~

Valentine's day is one week away. While the excitement is more obvious with women (what to wear on a date, etc.) why don't we pamper our better- half with something that has more impact sans the high tag? Here are some fabulous yet frugal ideas.

What are your plans this Valentine's? Look and feel special by making your own pair of hoop earrings!

Hello my fabulous friends, subscribers and readers!

Welcome to

I felt that it was finally time to abandon my old blog fabulouskath.com and revamp its name so it is aligned with my original intention of promoting confidence and women empowerment through makeups, motivational, fitness, DIY and whatnots. When I started this blog a year ago, I wasn't in my full creative-self and my audience was mainly composed of old classmates and acquaintances. Then as I wiggled my way through this intricate world of blogosphere, I realized that this blog wasn't just about me at all. I write posts requested by readers, I dish advise to women across the globe, and grant tutorials if need be.

So what's in a name then?

I have a confession to make ~ In my lifetime, I have kept and released this inner beast.

An inner beast is a woman's alter ego. It resides in each one, waiting to be unleashed anytime. She is mild yet wild. She laughs but bites. It is the confidence behind the makeups and pumps; the gut feel for rational decision-making; the might that scares the green-eyed foes; and the force that makes her triumph amidst life's tribulations. Have you released yours yet? It's high time.

Thank you my FabZillas for your continued support.... Now back to regular programming blogging.

< and yeah, this beast is fab >

Hand cream again? Yep mah dahling Clementine! Just how many hand moisturizers should a woman own? I don't know about you but I see to it that I have one in every nook. This babe below is now a fixture in my work bag...
