August Popugar Must Have: Unboxing & Impressions

Popsugar Must Have Box Review
complimentary box was provided for review by Popsugar; all opinions my own as usual!

If you're a subscription box aficionado, you may already know Popsugar Must Have Box. Unfamiliar? it simply is a monthly subscription box with products curated by Popsugar editors. At $39.95 per month (shipping included), you receive full-size items ranging from beauty to fitness to kitchen categories. Consider it a box-full of girly surprises. Some you never thought of buying until you open your box and utter "oh yeah I need this!". For the month of August, the inspirations were summer night outs, beach days, sweet smells, and sexy skin.

Minor leakage. Part of the box was wet because the shower gel caps were not tightly sealed. Trivial but I had to mention it for transparency. Also I received two shower gels, probably an honest mistake for all you know.

In no random order, here are the items I received for review and feature purposes.

The Mason Jar Cookie Company Cookie Mix (retail price $12). This is a pre-measured baking mix so you only need to add butter and egg to bake the perfect cookie. HubZilla is a sucker for cookies so I am saving this for him.

Lollia At Last Perfumed Shower Gel (retail price $22). I love Lollia even back then. It's the delicate upscale sister of edgy Tokyo Milk and uber trendy Love and Toast, all created by marketing genius Margot Elena. Like lipstick, you can never have too many shower gels in your bathroom so an addition of one (or two in this case) won't hurt, haha! I like the delicate feel of this shower gel, the scent is a tad strong but overall tolerable. I intentionally skipped applying body butter after bathing just to test if it will dry out my skin. Thankfully, it didn't so it's a keeper baby!

Goodbyn Meal and Dipper Set (retail price $8). Whether it's for you or your kiddos, this meal set is a good alternative to Tupperware. I pack lunch to work so this comes in handy. I like that it's dishwasher-safe and compact so I'll give it two thumbs up.

Paddywax Ocean Tide + Sea Salt Mini Jar Candle (retail price $10). If you like sea breeze fragrance then this handmade soy wax candle is right up your alley. I'm the type who lights up a candle in the kitchen for that cozy ambience, what about you?

thinkThin Brownie Crunch High Protein Bar. 230 calories, 20g protein, 0g sugar, not bad for a quick snack post-workout or mid-day break. It tastes good so a repurchase is definitely happening.

Kendra Scott Elisa Necklace in Black Cat's Eye (retail price $50). Simple yet classy, that's my kind of accessory. The chain is 14k gold over brass with adjustable lobster claw closure. This happens to be my #1 favorite from August box.

Bite Beauty Lush Fruit Lip (retail $22). Exclusively made for Popsugar in celebration of Must-Have's second birthday, this pink lip gloss has strawberry, coconut and avocado oils to help nourish the lips. It's pretty much established on le blog that I'm an avid fan of Bite Beauty lipsticks (check out my rave reviews here, here, and here) so when I say that this lip gloss isn't all that jazz, take it with a grain of salt, after all you may be into lipgloss more than I do. For the most part, it has something to do with the smell which comes off as borderline old. But then again, it's just me and my sensitive nose.

Bottom line, August Box is fine and dandy but I've seen better products featured in prior months. If you like surprises and variety, PopSugar Must-Have is worth checking out. Save $10 on a 3 month-subscription with coupon code AUG14SELECT, from today to 9/10/14 (I don't earn commission from this).

Finally let me end this post with a pic of moi wearing Kendra Scott necklace and Bite Beauty lip gloss.

Tarte Limited Edition (Fall 2014) Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette V1 :: Review, Swatch, FOTD

Tarte Limited Edition, Fall 2014, Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette V1, Review, Swatch, FOTD

First a QVC bundle exclusive, then a Sephora online limited edition, then pfffttt. As of this writing, I don't see this Tarte Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow V1 Palette at Sephora anymore. It could be website glitch, inventory problems, but whatever the cause is, I say bring it back por favor

A Fall limited edition release, this palette is for you neutral-loving ladies! Retailing for $38 (0.07 oz x 16), it has sixteen eyeshadows from rich browns to plums, shimmer to matte, all buttery-soft and easy to blend, with laudable wear time to boot.

When Hands (and Feet) Go Tough, Soften With Shea Butter

Perlier Shea Butter with White Lily Extract review
    :: press sample ::

While dry skin is more prevalent during winter months, my hands in particular know no season. Perennially dry and tough, I have nothing but my obsessive handwashing vis-à-vis sanitizing nature to blame. Given this predicament, I stash hand creams anywhere possible: at the office, bathroom, makeup room, purse, headboard, car, to name a few.

I  had the chance to try another product from Perlier, the Shea Butter Softening Moisturizing Hand Cream with White Lily Extract ($24, 200ml). As most of you probably know, shea butter is a great moisturizer plus more because it also soothes sunburn, relieves itching, tackles psoriasis or dermatitis, etc.

Perlier Shea Butter with White Lily Extract review

The deets. Yes it's thick. Yes it's heavily-fragrant. I like that it moisturizes my hands and feet so well that the feeling of roughness is addressed albeit tentatively. The addition of white lily in the ingredients is supposed to grant smoothness to the most sensitive skin. I know scent is personal and relative but this hand cream is reeking with over-the-top floral fragrance which lingers for a while. It maybe trivial to you but not for someone whose migraine is triggered with such strong parfum. With that said, I hope to see a different hand cream from Perlier, preferably less scented or better yet, fragrance-free.

Have you tried this hand cream?
